Russian Doll

A non-lolita outfit today! I felt inspired by natural kei, hence the headscarf.

~Rundown~
Blouse, scarf- Vintage
Skirt- Handmade by me
Boots- Innocent World
Everything else- Offbrand

The skirt is made from Laura Ashley fabric. I absolutely love Laura Ashley, and I'm always hunting for some vintage pieces. I found a wonderful brown velvet medieval-style dress recently, but the neckline was a bit low and it was too fitted for my taste. I hope someone else bought it and loved it!

I want to start wearing more headscarves! I think they're adorable. My mother has a nice collection of silk scarves so I'll have to see if I can borrow some.

I wore coral lipstick with this coordinate to brighten my face and give a doll-like look. It goes quite well with the overall colour scheme I think!

Thanks so much for looking, I hope you liked today's coordinate!

Pollocks Toy Museum

Yesterday I went to Lolita meetup at Pollocks Toy Museum in London!

Here's me with one of the dolls! She's lovely isn't she? I want her outfit. My coordinate has a teddy-bear theme to complment the exhibits!

I picked up on the theme by coordinating brown items with fur accents. There are teddies and bisque dolls on my jumperskirt! Also, my hairstyle is inspired by teddy ears.

Jumperskirt, socks- Innocent World
Tippet- Vintage
Everything else- Offbrand

I took a picture without the cardigan at home:

As usual the accessories are simple, but even a little detail can make a big difference to an outift! That's why I'm annoyed with myself when I don't add accessories....

I had such a lovely time yesterday; the museum was charming and so were the lovely Lolitas! I only regret that I couldn't have a long conversation with everyone. I hope I can talk with everybody next time! I want to go to another meetup soon!

Bye for now....

Be My Valentine.....

Yesterday was Valentine's Day! I hope you had a nice time.
I had a dinner date, so I took the opportunity to wear my new onepiece. Prepare for lots of pictures....

The onepiece makes me think of Judy Garland in Meet Me in St Louis!

I love the full circle skirt and the sleeves.

This time I wore a slip underneath, maybe next time I'll try it with my long pannier.

Here's a rundown:

Onepiece, handbag- Vintage
Tights, shoes- Offbrand
Hair combs- Handmade

This photo is a bit blurry, but I wanted to show you how big the skirt is!

Thanks for looking, see you again soon!

Glasses....

Unfortunately for me, I have INCREDIBLY weak eyes, so I always have to rely on contacts and glasses. I got a new pair of glasses for Christmas, and I like them a lot!

~Old~                                 ~New~

I think the new, lighter and bigger frames are more classic and "kind" looking than the square-ish ones I had previously. The new ones go a bit better with my style these days!

I've seen some Lolitas looking great with deco'd glasses or with old-fashioned spectacle chains. I think the deco is not for me, but I might try out the chains someday.

Thanks for looking, see you next time!

Dinner party....

Necklace- Innocent World
Onepiece- Juliette et Justine
Everything else- Offbrand
~

I wore this coord to a dinner party. It was with non-Loli friends who I don't know too well, so I tried to keep my look quite 'normal', haha. I do try to be a bit considerate in these sort of situations, because sometimes people can be a little embarrassed to be seen with a flamboyantly dressed person. Of course it's their problem more than mine, but it's also not my dinner party!

With this coord I tried to stike a balance between what I'm comfortable with and what will not stand out too much. To be honest, the very light colours probably made this outfit a bit too outstanding. I do like it  a lot though!  I think it looks clean and innocent, and not overly formal, so I'm pleased with it for that. This onepiece is beautiful in it's simplicity, and I always feel like it's a special occasion when I wear it. Here's a snap without the cardigan:

I'm wearing a long-sleeved lace cutsew underneath. It's less stuffy-looking than a blouse (though I admit I'm a blouse addict!) but still pretty and not too casual for such an outfit. Most importantly, it helped me not to freeze to death on a February evening!
~

For the future, I think the key points to 'normalizing' Lolita clothing would be:

1. Wear dark colours, especially black.
2. Do not wear a blouse.
3. Dark tights or bare legs rather than socks.
4. Shoes from a mainstream brand rather than shoes which are specifically Lolita.
5. Try to avoid items with a lot of lace trimmings.

Essentially, you should eliminate those elements from your outfit which are particularly old-fashioned or childish.

What do you think, reader? What are your suggestions? The next time an occasion like this comes up I'll try to follow the suggestions and I'll show you how it goes!
~

Oh, and a piece of exciting news!

I'm going to see D play in London in May! I can't wait! What am I going to wear though?

Victorian schoolgirl inspired outift

Well, last time I posted my new earmuffs but not the outfit I was wearing that day!

Onepiece- Metamorphose
Sweater- Vintage
Everything else- Offbrand
~

This Metamorphose onepiece dress was the first Lolita piece I got when I decided to start seriously building my wardrobe (I had some odd bits and pieces before that, but it took a while for me to get into the fashion fully). At that time, I wasn't 100% sure of my measurements, which is why this dress is rather short on me!

Although it's a bit too short for me to wear in a strictly Lolita coord, nonetheless I think it's cute and I wear it a lot for casual occaisions. It's loose-fitting and the empire line makes it very comfortable. I feel quite active in this dress, so it's useful for busy days.

For an extra-cute look I tie the waist ribbons at the front in a big bow!

To create a Victorian schoolgirl image, I coordinated dark tights and lace-up ankle boots. The high-collared sweater adds to the period look and long braids enhance the girlish atmosphere. Wearing this outfit I feel like one of The Railway Children!

Oh, and I added some hair clips with pink, black and cream roses to match the theme colours:

It looks like my twin behind me, but actually it's a mirror! I'd love to do twin-loli someday. The problem is that I'm over 170cm, so I'm more likely to appear like an older sister than a twin....

See you next time, and thanks for looking.

My new BABY ear muffs!

Here they are!

I picked them up at the Paris branch of Baby, the Stars Shine Bright a couple of weeks ago. The first two things I did when I arrived in Paris were to eat katsudon and go shopping at Baby! I felt quite ashamed of myself for not immersing myself in Parisian culture right away, but happily I made up for it later on.

I can't wait to go again! Next time I want to take more pictures and share them with you.

However, today I shall share some silly pictures of myself in the earmuffs:

I'm so happy I got them! Bye bye for now~

Grimoire dress

A not so Lolita outfit today!

Dress, blouse- Vintage
Shoes, tights, hair ribbon- Offbrand
~

I purchased this dress from a boutique called Grimoire when I visited Japan in the summer.

Grimoire is closely associated with Dolly Kei, but.... this coordinate isn't Dolly Kei at all! I think Dolly Kei looks wonderful, but perhaps it's a bit wild-looking for me to feel comfortable in? I'm afraid I'm a rather finicky sort of person, and I do like to look neat.

It was a wonderful experience visiting Grimoire. The boutique itself is like a fairytale, full of dolls, rosaries and antique laces, and the shop staff were so beautiful and stylish that I was a bit scared of them.

My first instinct was to coordinate this deep burgundy dress with a cream or teastain blouse. However, I found that it actually looks most striking teamed with pure white! I'd like to try this trick with other jewel-toned items.

If you'd like to know more about Grimoire, here is the link to their website:
